  • 3.5 billion:  Some of the oldest known forms of life appear.  They are cyanobacteria-like.
  • 3.2 billion:  
    • Stromatolites begin to appear, and can be considered a dominant form of life.
    • Some of the oldest known plant forms appear, in the form of algae.

 

Randian Era 2.82 billion to 2.47 billion years ago
  • 2.5 billion:  The earliest known evidence of plate tectonics.
