...Watch as we build boats, right here in the shop....

The Shop

We've decided to start a small photo gallery of our builds.
You can see a boat being built from start to finish and the
steps taken in the process. If you have any questions, drop
us a line.....

We start out with a sheet of 4x8 okoume
plywood and trace out our pattern.

Using a pre-cut 8'x10" sheet of ply,
we line up the marks and make our mark.

We then slide the pre-cut ply over one inch and apply
clamps....this allows us to make a straight cut using
the edge of the ply are a fence.

The next step is scarfing the panels. We use a small
3x18" sander with 50 grit paper to make the scarf.

Another view of the scarf, almost completed, just gotta
trim in a few areas to make it a perfect fit/pattern.

The panels are then lined up with the opposite scarf and glued.

We clamp the scarfs with a couple of 3" angle iron.
The metal doesn't flex and applies equal pressure across
the entire scarf.

For the front, we use a piece of 3x3 or 4x4 stock,
or laminate pieces together.

We plane off the excess and are ready for the saw.

With the blade set at 45 degrees, we cut our desired shape.

Another angle of the panel and stem before attaching.

Fastening stem to side panel with glue and fasteners.

Fastening the other side panel after lining it up square
with the first.

After securing the stern the same as the stem, you can
install a 2x4 to the bottom chine area to secure the
proper width of the boat. Another stud can be used
to determine the 'rocker' of the boat, the longer the
stud, the more 'rocker'. Here we lift the boat walls
over the floor to trace out a pattern.
