| Week sixteen: Standings | Boxscores Crew, Slammers earn spots in title gameThe new kids on the block -- the Zootown Crew -- are in the LAFF championship in their first season after knocking off the defending champion Battle Ground Gladiators 59-23 Sunday. They will face the oldest LAFF franchise, the Alabama Slammers, who will be making their fifth title game appearance in 18 years. The Slammers got 29 points from the NY Giants defense and 27 more from MVP candidate Tom Brady in beating the Orange Street Bridge Badgers 96-62.. The 12-4 Crew were winners of the East division while the 11-5 Slammers won the West division. The two teams met in week nine, with the Slammers coming out on top 72-58. The Gladiators will face the Badgers to determine third place in the league. The FishHawks, who scored 106 in week 16, will face the Big Sky Growlers in the 5th-6th place game, while the Demons and Cockroaches will play for 7th and 8th. The Demons went into the playoffs with just two losses, but have dropped both post-season games. In the consolation tournament, the Redondo Beach Wave will face the Northridge Fiery Newts for the title. Records on the line Tom Brady is just three points shy of Peyton Manning's all-time LAFF scoring record. Brady has 447 points with one game to play. Manning scored 450 in the 2004 season. Randy Moss has 228 points -- just two shy of one of the oldest markes in the LAFF record book. Jerry Rice scored 230 points in 1995 for the all-time scoring record for receivers. Week 17 schedule Transaction requests will be due at 1 p.m. Thursday, and starting lineups will be due at 3 p.m. Thursday this week.
