Rotary Teton Hillclimb, Sept. 8 - 10, 2006 |
9/1/06 --- NEWS FLASH ! --- Hillclimb Race CANCELLED !!!!!
John Atchison, who runs timing, scoring and race control for the Rotary Teton Hillclimb event; has suffered a detached retina and undergone emergency eye surgery. He will not be able to work the race, Sept 9-10. Consequently, we have sadly decided to cancel this year's race. We feel really bad about this, but without proper timing we feel it would be a diservice to all to try to patch it together only to have it fail.
We ARE planning on running the race in the future. Please notify anyone you know who is planning on attending the race this year that the hillclimb race has been cancelled for 2006.
Please contact me if you have further questions. Full refunds will be sent to those of you who have pre-registered.
Thank you and sorry,
John Hansford

The Friday evening registration and tech inspection will be held at the Warbirds Cafe (located at the Driggs airport), from 5 to 8 pm.
The Warbirds Cafe will be open for beverages of your choice and their exceptional food.
Tech inspection for race vehicles will be conducted in the parking lot of the Warbirds Cafe.
The novice drivers meeting will be held in the Warbirds Cafe conference room behind the dining area at 8:30 pm.
This novice drivers meeting is MANDATORY for novice hillclimb drivers and recommended for all drivers who have not driven the Teton Hillclimb previously. 9/14/05 -- The weather played a major role in the 2005 Rotary
Teton Hillclimb race, as Saturday's runs were cancelled due to rain, snow, fog and low clouds. It was cold, wet, humid and the road never did dry out sufficiently for safe high speed runs on the 2 mile mountain course. Sunday dawned with another 1/2" of snow on the ground, but the course was set, the road dried off, and the racers got 3 timed runs each;
in between intermitent snow flurries, clouds and occasional sunshine. The cold temperatures resulted in increased power from the motors at 8000 feet elevation and several class records were lowered significantly, including the overall hill record.
The 2005 Queen of the Hill is Merlene Fletcher, from Boise, driving her DSL Volvo V70R up the hill in 97.087 seconds.
The 2005 King of the Hill is Bill Cooper from Montana, driving his ASP Corvette Z06 up the hill in 82.227 seconds.

2/10/05 -- Ronald Ahrens raced a new Saab 9-2X in the 2004 Rotary Teton Hillclimb
and wrote an article about his experience and the car, which was published in the January 2005 issue of AUTOMOBILE magazine.
His photographer Gunnar Conrad supplied actions shots and enjoyed the local sights. Ronald also provided us with an entertaining
and inspiring featured talk at the Saturday night buffet dinner. We enjoyed having them and hope they will return
to the hillclimb again. You can read a copy of the article by
