The Gathering at the Trailhead
"Trailhead" is one of them terms
a little hard ta find,
First most, in this day an 'age,
somethink'comes ta mind.
John Chisholm gave the term
somewhat of a start,
So we'll describe it here, continuin'
a little of his part.
It's at the trailhead where the
gather's begun,
With the trail herd bein'built
afore the work's all done.
There is givin' try to the horses,
an' to the hands,
An' even the chuckwagon cook,
with his pots 'n pans.
Then each job on the trail is
carefully laid out,
An' ridin fir the brand comes
with little doubt.
Talk of them problems, that could
be of the day,
Are worked out an' then their
calmly put away.
Them long days an' short nights
will be a regular run,
An' there could be with them
trail hands a little cowboy fun.
There's even plans of good food
an' coffee always hot,
An' all are welcome ta a-taken'
of a cup an' plate from the pot.
Even fir those who jist drop
in, or are just a passin' through,
With little question of from
where, why, how, or what they do.
The goal is for all, in the
best shape, ta reach the rail head,
An' remember: The next leg of
yur journey begins right here at The Trailhead.
